30 mL (2 tbsp.) tbsp. frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
15 mL (1 tbsp.) tbsp. honey
15 mL (1 tbsp.) tbsp. orange zest
To taste salt and pepper
2 haddock fillets
Directions
1Preheat oven to 230°C (450°F).
2In a small bowl, combine hoisin sauce, orange juice concentrate, honey, orange zest, salt and pepper.
3Place haddock fillets on a baking sheet. Brush fillets on both sides with hoisin sauce and orange juice blend.
4Bake in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until fish is opaque.
5Serve with green beans and rice.
6Garnish the dish with toasted sesame seeds just before serving for a pleasant contrast of textures and a nutty flavour.
7If you want to intensify the Asian flavours, add a bit of freshly grated ginger or a few drops of sesame oil to the sauce before brushing it on the fish.
8Experiment with different sides like fragrant jasmine rice or sautéed bok choy or snow peas for a complete meal with Asian influences.
9If you enjoy a bit of heat, a dash of Sriracha sauce or some red pepper flakes in the hoisin sauce add a spicy dimension that pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the orange.
10Take care not to overcook the haddock to maintain its moist texture. The fish is ready when it flakes easily with a fork and is opaque yet still juicy.
11The Hoisin-Orange Haddock is a culinary marvel that blends delicate haddock with the captivating flavours of Asia. This elegant, easy-to-make dish features tender haddock fillets in a rich, aromatic hoisin sauce, bursting with sweet and spicy notes that pair perfectly with orange juice and zest for an exquisite harmony of flavours. Each bite is a burst of flavours as the tender fish melds with the complex sauce for an absolutely irresistible result. Served with crunchy green beans and fluffy rice, this is the perfect healthy, delicious dish, ideal for a light yet satisfying dinner.
